Lee Shaner is a photographer, director, and content creator specializing in music lifestyle, based in Los Angeles, California.
Raised in Alaska and educated in Santa Barbara at the Brooks Institute of Photography, Lee cut his teeth in the LA rap scene before stumbling into content creation in 2011 working with the revolutionary YouTube music channel Knocksteady. Early adopters in streaming, podcasting, and YouTube performance videos, Knocksteady’s influence still reverberates around the internet today.
As founder, host, curator, and producer of Kinda Neat, Lee has garnered over 130 million YouTube views, and 400,000+ subscribers that faithfully tuned in to see who the next featured musician would be each week. Dozens of artists who’ve gone on to major label success, hit records, and international fame, were featured on Kinda Neat before any other publication covered them.
After gaining substantial traction with KN, Skullcandy brought him on board to bring authenticity to their music program, first with journalistic music content, then as host of their “You Feel Me?” podcast, and eventually as curator and host of their “12 Moods” program in 2019. In 2020 he collaborated with Uproxx to conceptualize their “Sessions” performance show, of which he’s already directed over 200 episodes. Kinda Neat is currently active while he also collaborates, consults, and directs content for other brands.
He's got a wife, a son, a dog, and a house. His life is pretty good.
